On the Interaction Design of Game Bike

Abstract:

The interaction design of games pay more attention to the information interfaces, but overlooks the players’ preference, which leads to usability problems for them. The problems include hand rigid, pain, and lack of exercise and so on. The players' preferences are closely connected with the interaction form, and interaction function. Thus, topics about how to improve the product’s usefulness are in much need for discussing. Nowadays, it is a shared dream that people can enjoy life in the highly stressed society. Therefore, the digital technology can be used in bike interaction design, then, simulate the interaction between the game and bicycle as well as stimulating the users to participate in the sports actively. It can create a new kind of sports experience to achieve a mutual beneficial interaction between games and players. In addition, bicycle has the advantage of activating the whole body and less likely injuring the body, which is an unique characteristic that video games do not have. Therefore, this paper will firstly summarize the interaction forms of game bicycle: the somatosensory steering, sense of speed, and virtual reality devices; secondly, the construction of the experiment platform; thirdly, access the interaction function by the interviewing after the experiment (subjective assessment) and measuring the heart rate (objective assessment). In the interview part, each device in terms of the cognitive, affectivity, usefulness, and satisfaction are all good enough in interaction function; and in the heart rate measurement part, each device has a good exercises function.
