A New Vector Dot Generating Algorithm for Digital AM Screening

Article Preview

Abstract:

In this paper, a new vector dot generating algorithm is proposed for digital AM screening technology. The dot location, dot shape, dot size and screening angle are controlled by mathematical functions. The dot shape may be random geometry curve in varied tone. One dot is generated by one pixel, and the highest screening ruling is even equal to the image’s resolution. According to pixels’ gray value, the dot size can be computed. The vector graphics is obtained by the new algorithm, it’s able to be converted into tiff image with different resolutions in term of different binary recording equipments, and even be applied to vector recording equipments directly in the future. Finally, we use the software Matlab R2009a to verify the algorithm.
