Design and Application of New-Style Auto Stair-Climbing Wheelchair

Article Preview

Abstract:

A new-style auto stair-climbing wheelchair, which could help handicapped persons moving up and down the stairs and walking on the plains, was designed. The device ultilized the leg-style structure with front and rear legs supporting alternately to simulate the process of human being walking up and down the stairs. At the bottom of front and rear legs the Z-style backplane was mounted which could jam two staircases once and keep the seating always horizontal. The change of the center of gravity was analyzed during the process of climbing up and down; prototype experiments were done; the results indicate that the design and manufacture of the wheelchair was reasonable which could be a kind of travel instrument for disables.
