Abstract: In this paper, an automated nucleic acid extraction instrument based on magnetic nanobeads is described. Also, a prototype is designed and constructed. Some plant viral RNA extraction experiments were done using the platform. And the experimental results demonstrated that the instrument could be successfully used for extraction of plant viral RNA,and the extracted RNA was successfully used in an automated PCR assay for the detection of plant virus. The Ct values of CGMMV RNA, LSV RNA and ArMV RNA at the initial concentration were 12.51, 17.81 and 23.48.

Abstract: This research presents the design and development of the heart sound monitor for biomedical instrumentation which can be worked with a personal computer. The prototype will receive the heart sound via the condenser microphone built-in the stethoscope. The condenser microphone will be conversed the air pressure from heart beats to electrical signal that signal will transformed to computer via sound card. The sound card will be conversed the analog signal to digital signal for process by heart sound processing program developed by LabVIEW program. The signal will be analyzed with short time Fourier transforms in heart sound processing program by graphical user interface. The user is able to select a band pass of signal for filter and choose the frequency spectrum of heart sound for display. The output database from this prototype is necessary for Medical Education or Clinical Practice.

Abstract: In this study, the feasibility of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) as solid-phase extraction (SPE) adsorbent for the determination of bioactive crocin analogues in the traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) of Gardenia Jasminoides Ellis prior to HPLC analysis was studied. Various experimental factors influencing SPE efficiency and HPLC conditions were studied. By using SWCNTs as the SPE adsorbent, the detection limit of 1.19-2.21 fmol (at S/N of 3) were achieved with the preconcentration efficiency of more than 120-folds, indicating this proposed method was very practical for increasing the sensitivity prior to HPLC analysis, and it may provides useful clue for the efficient extraction for the bioactive compounds in TCMs.

Abstract: In this paper, we put forward a design of oxygenation sensor module, along with a software application development running on Android operation system to combine the sensor module with the Android terminal. A practicable system for blood oxygen monitoring is developed. This system contains two major parts. The first part is the design of oxygenation sensor module. Algorithms about dark current removing and pulse frequency extraction are discussed. Moreover, module calibration is conducted, which is then used to compare the precision of linear and quadratic equations for SpO2 computation. The second part is about the oxygenation monitoring software design and development based on Android platform. The general protocol Blood Condition Index (BCI) transport protocol in hospital monitor is studied and applied. Test results demonstrate the effectiveness of using SpO2 sensor module for blood oxygen measurement. Since ASubscript textSubscript textndroid has a high penetration in our daily life, this work will provide a useful tool for convenient and low cost daily monitoring of SpO2 at home.

Abstract: This paper investigates a kind of Chinese Traditional Medicine (TCM) pulse state diagnosis sensor which is based on sound detection. This method has many advantages and is in line with the TCM pulse state multi-attribute characteristics. First the sound measurement method was designed. Then the verification experiment of electret microphone was studied. The experiment results shown some electret microphones are available for low frequency and low energy vibration signal which is similar to TCM pulse state signal measurement. Eventually it comes to the conclusion that this pulse acquisition mode is available method and can effectively reveal the different kinds of pulse signal characteristic differences. Boys and girls TCM pulse state signal were detected separately. It shows that Different gender has different pulse state and the pulse shape is also different.

Abstract: In this developed society, most diseases appear due to stress people encounter day to day. Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is investigated in this study. 29 normal and 9 IBS subjects are involved in this study. Novel Traditional Chinese medicine’s pulse signal measurement system and pulse features are used. Pulse signal harmonicas and regression decay parameters are developed. Further multi-features classification by support vector machine showed that the left hand 9th harmonics and right hand alpha decay parameter are two candidates to differentiate IBS subject. SVM results showed classification performance of 85.7% accuracy, 100 % specificity and 44.4% sensitivity in this system.

Abstract: An intelligent control system to measure the developing height of water flowing fractured zone is proposed in this paper. The method of double end sealing water detection is adopted in this system. The hardware design principle, the software programming and the debugging process of the system are illustrated in detail. The control core part of this system is a 32-bit MCU STM32F107VCT6. The other parts consist of intelligent sensors, data collecting circuit, data transmit and storage circuit, electrical valve control circuit and human-machine interface circuit using touch screen. The purpose of this project design is to achieve the detection and analysis of the developing rules of the height of water flowing fractured zone by means of collecting, storage and analysis of the displacement signal, pressure signal, and flow signal in upward holes under the coal mine. This detection method is widely used in safe coal mining owing to its high performance.

Abstract: A design of long-distance and high-accuracy rail subgrade deformation monitoring system based on Zigbee wireless network is proposed according to the requirement of inclination measurement for the Qinghai-Tibet railway rail subgrade. This paper selects Atmega128 as the microprocessor of the system, and uses SCA103T as high accuracy inclination sensor. When the real time inclination data has been collected and analyzed, GPRS network and Beidou satellite system should send the data to remote server, which can exhibit the deformation of rail subgrade after processing and analyzing the data comprehensively. The measurement results show that the short-term stability reaches 0.01°, and long-term stability reaches 0.02°. The final application distance is nearly 378 kilometers.

Abstract: This paper presents a new method for detecting lead pollution in rice by using hyperspectral data. First, some transform methods are used to generate relatively independent datasets on hyperspectral data. Then, the kernel discriminant analysis is utilized to extract features from each represented dataset. Finally, new fused features are made by combining aforementioned features serially. The experimental result based on the proposed method shows the good performance in detecting lead pollution in rice.

Abstract: N-butyl Pyridine Nitrate ionic liquid is prepared by the double decomposition reaction of BPC and NaNO3. The ionic liquid at room temperature used in the experiment has a significant absorption determined by UV spectrum within the range of 200-400nm, the maximum absorption wavelength of BP-NO3 ionic liquid is 256nm. The standard working curve of BP-NO3 ionic liquid is y= 0.06848x + 0.04427(R=0.99913). The recovery rate of BP-NO3 ionic liquid which is between 100.2% and 102.4%, is measured by standard addition method in water.
