Collapse Simulation of Plane Irregular Isolation Structures Subjected to Near-Fault Seismic Motion

Abstract:

Isolation as an effective means of shock absorption in some of the earthquake to show good performance and has been increasingly applied to practical engineering. However, it had a negative impact on long-period structures and isolated structures seismic performance in near the earthquake zone. Meanwhile, in the vicinity of near-fault for the torsion response of plane irregular base-isolated structure can not be ignored. Therefore, the paper uses the universal finite element software to analyse irregular plane isolated structure’ collapsed performance and anti-seismic structure’ collapsed performance under the near fault ground motion. The results show that plane irregular non-isolated structures appear earlier than the isolated structures of plastic hinge and easier to collapse.
