Analysis of Automotive Steering Column Regulation Performance Based on Abaqus

Abstract:

The adjustment test of steering column is an important parameter for automobiles safety, but the unified standard and test method are not yet formed. Build parameterized model of steering column internal and external spline shafts, and analysis the contact stress changes in the movement process using Abaqus/standard. The movement speed of 5 mm/s in the x, y direction as example, and stress distribution of regulating movement are obtained. Experimental result shows that the maximum overall stress grows with the adjusting movement speed growth, and its in conformity with actual parts failure.
