An OPS Architecture of Multistage Wavelength Conversion with Shared Limited Range

Article Preview

Abstract:

Architecture is proposed for a Wavelength Division Multiplexed (WDM) optical packet switch equipped with both limited range wavelength converters (LRWCs) and parametric wavelength converters (PWCs). A scheduling algorithm is defined to control optical packet forwarding in a synchronous scenario. Simulation results dictate that significant improvement in performance in terms of packet loss probability when compared with architectures employing LRWCs.
