A Vehicle Dynamic Weighing System Based on Wireless Smart Aggregates

Article Preview

Abstract:

Currently, the traffic management technology used in vehicle dynamic weighing is gradually matured. However, in China, the existing technology has not been widely used in practical detection. The main reason is the high cost of the existing weighing system which has to destroy a short road during its construction, at the same time, requires arranging a lot of cables to form a monitoring network. This is not only harmful to vehicular traffic, but also wasteful in manpower and financial resources. This paper develops a wireless smart aggregates array based on the protocol for Zigbee802.15.4 and the passive piezoelectric structural health monitoring (SHM). By measuring the vehicle with various loads, the test is performed to validate the proposed Wireless Smart Aggregates Vehicle Dynamic Weighting System (WSA-VDWS). The experimental results are consistent with the results of actual conditions. The developed system is stable and reliable, which is able to be applied in real-time online tests of vehicle dynamic weighting monitoring.
