Path Analysis of Industry Associations to Promote Industrial Upgrading

Abstract:

Industry associations are the bridge connected enterprises, government and market, which have such functions as to consolidate industrial management, self-regulation, coordination and monitoring, and protection for legal rights of enterprises. The authors carried out an empirical research on industry associations, technological progress, management innovation, and industrial upgrading by using the survey data of 500 leather enterprises in China. The findings have implied that industry associations have significantly positive influences on technological progress, management innovation and industrial upgrading; technological progress and management innovation have significantly positive influences on industrial upgrading; and that technological progress and management innovation are fully mediated between industry associations and industrial upgrading. Then the authors put forward some strategies on the development of the leather industry in China.
