Instance and Mechanism Analysis of Power Oscillation Caused by Valve Discharge Characteristics of Steam Turbine
Abstract:
This paper presents and analyzes a power oscillation phenomenon caused by the non-linear segment of valve discharge characteristics of the steam turbine. The torque analysis method is applied to explain how the mechanical torque considering the valve discharge characteristics impacts the damping characteristic of the power system. Simulation studies are based on a single-machine infinity bus system by using Matlab/Simulink. Analysis and simulation results reveal that the effect of the prime mover should be fully considered while analyzing the low frequency oscillations.
