Design and Fabrication of a Mobile Self-Reconfigurable Microrobot with Wall-Climbing Ability

Article Preview

Abstract:

The paper presents an original mobile self-reconfigurable microrobot with wall-climbing ability, which is fabricated by combination of non-silicon surface microfabrication techniques and precision machining techniques. The omni-directional mobile mechanism with magnetic wheels and the novel universal microconnector with automatic connecting/disconnecting mechanism are designed, which are both actuated by MEMS-based electromagnetic micromotors. The mechanical prototype of the microrobot is developed, and its fabrication method is introduced.
