Controllable Synthesis of Silver Nanospheres with Uniform Size

Article Preview

Abstract:

We reported a facile route to obtain silver nanospheres with uniform shape and narrow size distribution by polyol synthesis, in which ethylene glycol (EG) was used both as solvent and reductant and polymer polyvinglpyrrolidone (PVP) was used as capping agent. Scanning electron microscopy(SEM), UV-vis, and dynamic light scattering(DLS) were used to characterize the morphologies and size distribution of as-synthesized silver nanoparticles. Uniform silver nanospheres with an average diameter of 45 nm can be routinely synthesized through this approach by optimizing PVP/AgNO3(silver nitrate) molar ratio of 24 .
