The Improved Optimal Gradient PV MPPT Control Algorithm

Article Preview

Abstract:

Against the problem that the existing MPPT control algorithms of PV array have difficulties to balance both of the control accuracy and searching speed, this article presents a golden ratio optimal gradient MPPT algorithm based on the traditional optimal gradient MPPT control algorithm. The algorithm is an optimal gradient control algorithm of variable step size, it has an advantage over the traditional fixed step optimal gradient algorithms on tracking the maximum power point. The experimental results show its superiority in the searching speed and control accuracy by modeling and simulation on PSCAD.
