Abstract:

With economic growth rateoveremphasized nowadays, modern Chinese society has to be drove into a way thatpushes forward development and transformation rapidly. Corresponding to China’sfast developing urbanization, unfortunately, is the neglect of local culture protection,which leads to the loss of indigenous culture, and causes city features missingduring the construction and so on wherever modern “bulldozers” go. Paper introducesthe concept and planning idea of slow city, and lists several successful casesas the sample of cities which “retain the nostalgia”, in order to proposesome enlightenment for the local culture protection and inheritance in the urbanizationprocess of China.
