Research on Dynamic Characteristics of Penstock and Expansion Joint Structure in Hydropower Station

During electricity generation in Hydropower Station, there’s pulsating pressure load on discharge flow, which induces vibration and fatigue damage on expansion joint structure. In this essay, through 3D Finite Element Method we conduct research about natural vibration characteristics of honeycomb duct of steel waterline pipe expansion joint under the condition of fluid-structure interaction, analyzing and researching the characteristics of vibratory modes with fluid-structure interaction on penstock between adjacent domains. By the above effort, we acquire the parameters of vibratory modes on structure, including those like natural frequency and corresponding vibratory modes of structural low level, which provides basis for structural vibration analysis.
