The Estimation for Position and Velocity of Moving Ball from Single Linear Array Image

An original method for estimating the position and velocity of moving ball using a single line scan camera is presented. The collected linear array image is composed of plenty of lines which are sensed at different time instants, it therefore contains both spatial and temporal information of a period of the ball’s movement which makes it feasible to estimate the 3D motion of the ball. The relevance and accuracy of the method are experimentally confirmed both on simulated and real images.
