Abstract:

The reaction of 1-(1-hydroxy-2-naphthalenyl)-N, N-bis(3-aminopropyl)methylamine with MgCl2•6H2O in CH3CH2OH followed by recrystallization in CH3CH2OH gave rise to colorless block Mg (II) complex crystal material. The Mg (II) complex has been characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra and molar conductivity. The photoluminescence of the Mg (II) complex material was tested in solid and in solution, the result shows that the complex displays a emission maximum in blue region and that the organic solvents have effect on fluorescence intensity of Mg (II) complex.
