Effects of Enzyme and Softener Treatment on Properties of Ramie Fabrics

Article Preview

Abstract:

The purpose of this paper was to compare the effects of enzyme and softener treatment on properties of ramie fabrics. Performances before and after treatment on bursting, tensile, drape, abrasion resistance, fuzz and pills resistance, bending and scratchiness were tested and compared to find the optimal modification method. The results show that the strength of fabrics descend after the two modification treatments while the softness and elongation were improved . The effect of enzyme treatment is more satisfactory since it can make the ramie fabrics show better drape, better bending, lower propensity to surface fuzzing and to pilling and weak scratchiness .
