Effect of Calendering Finish on the Fabric Style of Super-Fine-Sheep Wool Gabardine

Article Preview

Abstract:

Mechanical indexes, including tension, shearing, bending, compression, and surface friction characteristics, for the two super-fine-sheep wool gabardine fabrics which are treated by calendering finish or not in a low stress were obtained by using Kawabata’s Evaluation System (KES-FB-AUTO-A). Results showed that different fabrics have their own style characteristics. Calendering finish can endow a thin wool gabardine fabric high count fabric with a better style characteristic. However, it will also affect the sewability of fabric when it is made to be a garment.
