Factorial Analysis on Breast Lifted and Gathered Effects Caused by Bra Straps

Article Preview

Abstract:

Women are increasingly concerned about the wearing comfortability and the compensatory function of the brassiere to achieve an appearance of both lifted and gathered breasts. Many researches had been conducted on the pressure compression comfort and breast shaping capability. As the main components of a bra, the band and the cup have been reported in many literatures. Taken as an accessory, however, the function of the bra strap on lifting and gathering the breast has not been documented. In an attempt to analyze the breast lifting and gathering function caused by the strap, we took such factors as the strap’s width, the connected positions with the bra band and the stretching status of the straps in consideration, and designed this pilot study to clarify the effect of the above three factors of bra strap in aspect of the assistance for the breast lifting and gathering function. Twelve female subjects were invited to take the wearing experiment. Five measurements indicating the lifted and gathered effects of the breast for the strap were recorded for analysis. The result concluded that the stretching status of the strap was the determined cause of the lifting and shaping effects for the bra straps.
