Synthesis of some Curcumin Analogues under Ultrasound Irradiation

A convenient method to synthesize curcumin and its five analogues, which were named as 1,7-diphenyl-1,6-heptadiene-3,5-dione,1,7-Bis-(4-hydroxy-phenyl)-1,6-heptadiene-3,5-dione,1,7-Bis-(4-methoxy-phenyl)-1,6-heptadiene-3,5-dione,1,7-Bis-(2-hydroxy-3-methoxy-phenyl)-1,6-heptadiene-3,5-dione and 1,7-Bis-(2,3-dimethoxy-phenyl)-1,6-heptadiene-3,5-dione respectively, via the Claisen condensation of aromatic aldehyde and 2,4-pentanedione in the presence of trimethyl borate and monoethanolamine under ultrasound irradition was reported. The corresponding physical properties were characterized by IR, 1HNMR spectra and elemental analysis studies.
