Research on Activity on Plant Growth of Extracts from Jatropha curcas Leaves

Article Preview

Abstract:

The extracts from leaves of Jatropha curcas were obtained with water, methanol, ethanol, acetone and ethyl acetate by impregnation method, and the flavone content of extracts was analyzed by UV spectrometry. Then the activity of plant growth was tested respectively on mung beans and water spinach through observing the seed germination and seedling root growth. The results showed that the extracts could promote plants to grow well at lower concentration (<50μg•mL-1), but inhibit at higher concentration, and the effect was best under the 40~50 μg•mL-1. Besides, water spinach was more sensitive than mung bean to the concentration.
