Research on Isolation and Purification of Phenanthrene

Article Preview

Abstract:

Isolation and purification of phenanthrene from phenanthrene waste has been studied by two different purification methods: 1) fractionation and acid wash, 2) fractionation, extraction and chemical removal of anthracene. Experimental results showed that, by the two purification methods, the purity of phenanthrene was increased from 50.29% to 86.06% and 96.36%, and the yields of phenanthrene were 26.58% and 60.5%, respectively. Commercial grade phenanthrene was obtained by purification, and the melting point of the products was 96~103°C.
