Reclamation Processes from 1930-2006 in Western Jilin Province in China and Consequent Hydrological Effects
Abstract:
Western Jilin, being Agro-Grazing ecotones typical of ecologically vulnerable zones, tend to degrade land while disturbed. The reclamation within this area has brought about widespread and rapid environmental deterioration. The reclamation processes were reconstructed through the interpretation of Landsat TM images in 2006, 1996, 1986 and aerial Images in 1954 and 1930; the environmental impacts were analyzed by use of modified conversion matrix method and other spatial analysis methods. The results indicated that the reclamation had lead to the increasing deficiency of water resources.
