Numerical Study on Double Layers Fragment Warhead under Asymmetrical Initiation

Article Preview

Abstract:

Increasing the velocity and distributing density of fragments through asymmetrical initiation is an efficient way to improve the damage capacity of warheads. This paper will do research on warhead with double layers of fragments under asymmetrical initiation and analyze how the thickness of charge between the two layers will affect the velocity and distribution of directional fragments. Compared with single layer fragments under symmetrical initiation, if the thickness between the two layers is properly disposed, double layers fragments under asymmetrical initiation can double the density of fragments and get a higher fragment velocity in the definite direction simultaneously, which will improve the damage capacity of warheads
