General Modularized Design (GMD) for the Agile Design of Crane Drum

Article Preview

Abstract:

In order to improve the design efficiency of the crane and its parts to meet the fierce market competition, we developed rapid design system for crane drum. According to GMD theory, this paper takes crane drum for study, and divides it into several modules to form series and modular of crane drum. Summarized the design theory and knowledge of the crane drum and determined the parameters of functional modules. We shift modules from static modules to dynamic modules. By making a second development of Solid Edge with Visual Basic.NET, we developed agile design system for crane drum. After numerous tests in the actual design process, the system can greatly improved the quality and efficiency of design.
