Control for 3-Phase 4-Wire Active Power Filter Based on Synchronous Reference Frame

Article Preview

Abstract:

This paper presents a new control approach based on synchronous reference frame for an active power filter (APF) to compensate harmonic and the reactive power of a 3-phase thyristor bridge rectifier under the different loads. Matlab/simulink power system toolbox is used to simulate the proposed system. The proposed method performance is compared with conventional instantaneous power (p–q) theory. The simulation results are presented and discussed showing the effectiveness of the control algorithm. The increased performance of the active power filter and dynamic load conditions are extensively demonstrated.
