Review of Nanobainite Steel Welding

Article Preview

Abstract:

Nanobainite steel is a new strong structural material with an ultimate tensile strength of 2500 MPa, and toughness in excess of 30-40 MPam1/2. However, so far, no suitable methods can realize its welding because of poor weldabilities. This paper reviews recent researches on welding of nanobainite steel and points out their merits and demerits. Three problems during welding, cold cracks, formation of brittle martensite, and cementite precipitation, are presented. Several possible methods are provided and discussed. This paper is intended to provide an introduction of the development of welding of nanobainite steel, give several suggestions theoretically for future research, and inspire further applications for nanobainite steel.
