Abstract:

A schiff base ligand, salicylaldehyde-henyl-sulfonylhydrazone, and its Mg (II) complex were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectra, UV spectra and X-ray single crystal diffraction. The ligand formed zigzag structure by intermolecule hydrogen bonds, intramolecule hydrogen bonds and - interaction. The fluorescent property of Mg (II) complex has been investigated in solid. The result shows that the Mg (II) complex shows a luminescence emission peak at 517 nm when excited at 387 nm.
