Study on the Influence of Large-Scale Electric Vehicles on Power Grid

Article Preview

Abstract:

Nowadays, the depression of energy market and the ever rising price of gasoline make us pursue green transportation. With the forceful support from our government, Electric Vehicles (EVs) develop rapidly. When randomly being connected to the power grid in large scale, EVs will bring new problems to grid in operation. This paper analyzes the load characteristics of EVs and their impact on the power grid. Study the charging and discharging time and capacity of each type of EVs, based on the EVs’ charging mode in China. This paper adopts Monte Carlo simulation method to obtain expectation and standard deviation of power demand of a single EV, then calculates the overall power demand of large-scale EVs.
