Research on Variation Law of Void Ratio of ARAC-13

Article Preview

Abstract:

Comparing with RAC-G, ARAC has a much better performance on resist fatigue cracks and reflective cracks which is more suitable to semi-rigid basement structure in China. In this paper, through Marshall tests, large number of tests were carried out, study focused on effects of grades changes on voids of ARAC-13 mixture. It is found that, in order to ensure that ARAC void ratios in the 3% to 6% range, asphalt-aggregate ratio should be controlled at 8.5% ~ 9.5%, by adjusting the relative content of the coarse aggregate (4.75mm-9.5mm) and aggregate ≤ 2.36mm, content of 9.5mm ~ 13.2mm coarse aggregate increases each 7%, the void of mixture reduces by 1%,; With the reduction of 4.75mm and upwards coarse aggregate, the void of mixture presents a law of diminishing; finally, the content of 2.36mm aggregate should below 8.3%, and the mineral powder should be strictly controlled fewer than 1%.
