Abstract: The effects of different deflocculants, fume silica, reactive micro-alumina powder and high alumina cement on the flowability of corundum based self-flowing castables were investigated using brown corundum as the main starting materials. The behavior of the castables was evaluated according to the self-flow value of the castables. The results showed that the best self-flow characteristics of corundum based self-flowing castables is obtained using sodium hexametaphosphate as deflocculant, suitable amount of alumina micropowder, fume silica, and high alumina cement as binders. The resultant castables were successfully used in the bottom of a refining ladle with capacity of 80 tons. The service life could match that of well blocks and meet the production requirements.

Abstract: An axial compression test has been done on 12 short columns, ribbed and spiral stirrup short column filled with recycled demolished concrete lump to study the axial compression variable characteristics and ultimate bearing capacity of thin-wall T-shaped steel tube column filled with recycled demolished concrete lump. The load displacement curve has been analyzed, ultimate bearing capacity of standard formula has been compared and the reliability of finite element numerical simulation and been discussed. The result shown that the form of steel tube embedded with structural members has more effectively increased the tensility, delayed bending occurrence, enhanced the effect of restraint of core concrete and increased the ultimate bearing capacity than that the form of plain section form. The ultimate bearing capacity of ribbed form has been increased by 16.76% than non-ribbed form, and the ultimate bearing capacity of spiral stirrup form has been increased by 11.98 % than non-spiral stirrup form. The finite element simulation and the test result was identical properly.

Abstract: Based on the engineering background of Dongkeling tunnel of Guizhou-Guangzhou high-speed rail, construction process in soft surrounding rock is simulated by using finite difference software——FLAC according to large-deformation characteristics in water-rich and weathering altered granite weak surrounding rock. Several aspects, such as vault settlement, invert uplift, clearance convergence, surface settlement, the maximum and minimum principal stress of the initial support and plastic zone of surrounding rock, are analyzed to determine the tunnel stability with different construction methods.

Abstract: Based on different land use types and diverse watersheds of Dehua district of Fujian Province, soil erosion is assessed by using Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE). According to the results, erosion of Dehua is generally mild, among which total erosion is 952.71×103 t/a and erosion area is 2210.67 km2. It is significant that the vast forest and grassland contribute to avoiding erosion effectively. In addition, the overlap area of Min and Jin River and Chanxi of Min River, the most frequent place of human activities, are the two highest soil erosion watersheds. The result shows that human activities have great influence on soil erosion. This article intends to provide evidence for planning and control measures of soil erosion.

Abstract: High strength stainless steel wire mesh-polymer mortar reinforcement method was a kind of advanced reinforcement technique. The present study attempted to do a model analysis on the test of the high strength steel wire mesh-polymer mortar reinforcement of less stress beams by using finite element software ANSYS. The study was conducted through the analysis of the three factors of the tested bending reinforcement beam’s deflection, deformation and stress and comparison of the changes of the beam’s ultimate load and failure mode before and after reinforcement. The results of ANSYS analysis and the test showed that the failure mode shifts from less reinforcement damaged into reinforcement destruction;the crack loading value of the reinforced beams increased indicating that the beam bottom reinforcement layer had a significant effect on the increase of the beam’s crack loading. Increased significantly compared to non-reinforced ultimate bearing capacity of reinforced beams. the ANSYS finite element simulation agrees well with the experimental value.

Abstract: In this paper, the finite element software Ansys is used to establish the model of Fenghua River super large bridge and to analyze its natural vibration characteristics. Without being considered the effect of pile-soil, the stiffness of different parts of the bridge structure is constantly changed to study the factors of influencing "Fly-bird-type" concrete filled steel tube arch bridge. The calculation results show that the arch rib stiffness, the wind bracing stiffness, the suspender stiffness and the main beam stiffness can improve the stability of the bridge structure, and also make the natural frequency increase.

Abstract: This article takes the Eighth Route Army Command Zhuanbi Former Site in Wuxiang county, Shanxi province for example. Through the investigation and analysis of the eighth route army general command organization, summarizes all the historical heritage that scattered in the villages, draws a recognized mode of the protected object which is more real and complete to protect the eighth route army general command site. This provides reference and basis for the protection work of the other similar revolutionary historical buildings and the same type of protection in the future.

Abstract: In order to study ribbed thin-walled square steel tube recycled concrete eccentric compression column, used the mechanical properties of ANSYS software, conduct the nonlinear numerical simulation. The analysis of the ribbed and ribbed, recycled coarse aggregate replacement ratio and eccentricity, three factors on the eccentric compression column mechanical performance, proved the thin-walled square steel tube that recycled concrete composite column the effectiveness of three-dimensional finite element simulation. The result shows that: when aggregate replace rate was 0%, ribbed specimen than not ribbed specimen axial displacement and displacement to the reduced to 5.77% and 2.33% respectively. When the aggregate replace rate was 50%, ribbed specimen than not ribbed specimen shaft voltage and bias displacement has been reduced by 6.53% and 4.22%; When the aggregate replace rate was 0%, ribbed specimen than not ribbed specimen axis pressure bearing capacity and bias the bearing capacity increased by 1.21% and 2.74%. When the aggregate replace rate was 50%, ribbed specimen than not ribbed specimen axis pressure bearing capacity and bias the ultimate bearing capacity increased by 1.04% and 2.82%.

Abstract: Billions of cigarette butts (CBs) were discarded by smokers directly into the environment. It is known that CBs are one of the environmental pollution that could caused contamination on the street, sidewalks, waterways, beaches and public areas. Due to its small size but large in volume, CBs cannot be collected easily and most of it will be disposed directly to the landfill. Moreover, there is no easy mechanism to ensure the separation of the chemicals trap inside the CBs which is toxic to the environment. Therefore, by incorporating CBs into brick bodies will be an alternative solution to CBs littering and pollution problems. In this study, different percentages of CBs (0%, 2.5% and 5.0%) were incorporated into fired clay brick. Different heating rates were applied during firing stage which are 1oC/min, 3oC/min and 5oC/min respectively. All samples were fired at 1050oC. Thermal conductivity for cigarette butt brick (CB Brick) were tested using Hot Guarded Plate Method. From the results obtained, it could be concluded that; with higher percentages of CBs, the thermal conductivity properties were also improved which is desired but most of the brick manufacturers. CBs incorporated could be an alternative pore formers to improve the thermal properties of fired clay brick. At the same time, the porosity is also increased thus the density was significantly reduced to become lightweight brick.
