Study on Examination Reform of Specialized English for Seafarers on International Ships

Abstract:

Seafarers English level is very important to keep the ocean-going vessels safely navigate at sea. So China MSA requires all the seafarers on international ships must pass the SESIS Examination. After a brief introduction of SESIS Examination in China, this paper analyzed some problems of the examination with respect to examination syllabus, examination mode and test question types. Combined with the practice of SESIS training and examination organization, this paper gave some advice, such as revise and perfect examination syllabus, popularize and apply computer-assisted examination mode, carry out reform of examination questions and types.
