Utilizing the Binary Field to Optimize the Performance of the Relational Database

Article Preview

Abstract:

In practical relational database, there are many tables that the values of their most fields have only two kinds and the values of the left fields are all discrete. For this kind of table, the paper presented a new logical storage structure utilizing binary field to compress the data volume and by making binary operations and SQL statements combined to realize the new database operations to enhance their executing efficiency. Experimental results showed that the new storage structure indeed greatly reduced the physical storage space and optimized the performance of the relational database.
