Comparison Studies on Microwave & Muffle Furnace Heat Treatment for Al-B4C Composite

Article Preview

Abstract:

In this paper influence of microwave & muffle furnace heat treatment on properties & energy consumption aspects for Al-B4C composite is studied. The impact, hardness, power consumption, heat treatment, time & cost were also studied. It is observed that the results of hardness & impact strength of the material are very closer in muffle furnace and microwave oven. Power conservation & cost reduction in microwave oven process is many times less where compared with muffle furnace. Huge time is saved in microwave oven process. Green environmental & sustainable development is encouraged in the process of microwave heat treatment. Keywords: Microwave oven, muffle furnace, Al-B4C, power conservation, green environmental
