A Rapid Method to Determine Joint Opening in JPCP for Sealant Fatigue Test

Article Preview

Abstract:

To determine the joint opening value and vertical deflection value for sealant fatigue test, a rapid calculation method was established based on the analysis of factors ( such as temperature gradient, foundation stiffness, slab geometry) effects on joint opening and corner deflection. Then prediction equations were applied with the field collected year-round temperature field in concrete pavement. Probability distributions of half-horizontal displacement and corner vertical deflection exhibit bimodal effect and single peak effect, respectively.
