The Experimental and Numerical Study of the Stability of Ultra-High Pressure Water Jet

Article Preview

Abstract:

In order to realize the stability-control of ultra-high pressure water jet, its kinetic characteristic should be unfolded firstly. This study measured the fluidic beam concentration (FBC) of jets discharged from six nozzles of different configurations. We also discuss flow physicals governing FBC with the help from a preliminary numerical simulation. Jet interface, the boundary line between jet and still air is like a long stepped line in the upstream, and turned to linear variation in the midstream and downstream. The characteristic of the jet can be controlled by the configuration of the nozzle exit effectively. Compared simulation results with experimental data, the conclusion can be drawn that the configurations of the nozzles have a significant influence on the vortexes which can decide the FBC.
