Simulation on Control Strategies of Hybrid Energy Storage

Article Preview

Abstract:

Hybrid energy storage system, applied in micro-grid, can bring a higher technical performance. A hybrid energy storage system, including batteries and super-capacitors, is presented in this paper. For maintaining the micro-grid stability, the control strategy of the hybrid energy storage system is divided into two layers: central control system and local control system. The central control system is used to calculate the total output power which the micro-grid wants, and the local control system is used to divide the total output power signal into a frequent fluctuant part and a smooth part, and control the super-capacitors inverters and the batteries inverters to output with these two power signals respectively. With the example system in PSCAD/EMTDC, it proves the effectiveness and feasibility of the control strategy.
