The Integration and Development of Heritage Resources Based on RMP Analysis - A Case Study of Songshan World Geopark

Abstract:

Songshan was inscribed in China's first batch of world Geoparks in 2004 with the approval of the UNESCO. And on the 34th World Heritage Conference in 2010, the Historic Monuments in The Centre of Heaven and Earth located in Songshan area was officially included in the World Heritage list. In response of these calls to preserve this world heritage which is rich in cultural resources and natural resources especially geological relics, the present paper offers a comprehensive yet integrated analysis from the world heritage perspective, based on RMP analysis and data obtained in the 2012 interview, with great emphasis laid on its market characteristics and tourism products. Such systematic analysis also provides solutions for the problems facing and even challenging tourism development and practical suggestions are also put forward for its sustainable development.
