Adsorption Characteristics of Zinc Ions onto PVDF-PAA Membrane

Article Preview

Abstract:

In this paper, a polyvinylidene fluoride-poly (acrylic acid) membrane (PVDF-PAA membrane) with the function of filtering and adsorption was prepared by using polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and acrylic acid (AA). It was characterized by Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and studied to remove Zn (II) metal ions from aqueous solutions. The different variables effecting the sorption capacity such as pH of the solution, adsorption time, initial concentration of metal ion and temperature have been investigated. Meanwhile, the sorption data was analyzed using adsorption isotherms of the Langmuir, Freundlich and D-R isotherms models and the sorption kinetics was evaluated using first-order, second-order and intraparticle diffusion kinetic reaction models.
