The High Temperature Oxidation Behavior of Hot-Dipping Aluminized Steel 0Cr18Ni10Ti

Article Preview

Abstract:

0Cr18Ni10Ti stainless steel was coated by hot-dipping in a molten aluminum bath, and then diffusing annealing at 950 °C for 2h. The high temperature isothermal oxidation behaviors of the hot-dipped aluminized steel and 0Cr18Ni10Ti steel were tested at 900 °C for 100h using resistance furnace. Morphology, and phase composition, element distribution of the oxide scale were characterized by XRD, SEM and EDS. The results of hot-dipping Al showed that slow weight gain was occurred, because of the formation of compact and dense Al2O3 oxide film during the oxidation process. The result of 0Cr18Ni10Ti showed that instable oxidation occurred, and a significant weight gain was obtained. The oxidation behavior of the steel is subject to breakaway oxide nodules on the surface. The oxide nodules are composed of two layers. Outer Fe-rich layer is susceptible to spallation and inner layer is loose.
