Using Excel and MATLAB to Calculate Liquid Limit of Soil

Article Preview

Abstract:

This paper explains and demonstrates how to calculate liquid limit of soil with TREND function of Excel and MATLAB via test data. The current graphical methods to determine liquid limit exist estimated reading results being not accurate enough. The TREND function of Excel was introduced and the related Excel worksheet was created, corresponding codes in MATLAB were programming similarly. The method of using Excel spreadsheets or MATLAB is very simple, efficient and accurate.
