Research on the Deformation Characteristic of EPS Silt Light-Weight Soil

Article Preview

Abstract:

EPS silt light-weight soil is a good artificial earthfill material made by EPS foaming materials and silt. At present, the microstructure character of this light-weight soil is rarely understood, besides, it is very difficult to hold the reasonable deformation parameters, therefore, study on the microstructure mechanism and deformation parameters of EPS silt light-weight soil is very important. Based on the image processing technique and fractal theory, the quantitative parameters and the transformation features under the loading process of the EPS silt light-weight soil microstructure can be researched by XRD and SEM tests. According to the indoor and insitu tests, the effect of EPS grain deformation, soilcement strength, test method and the stress level on the deformation characteristic is to be studied by analysing microstructure transformation. Based on the test results and related theory analysis, the relationship between the microstructure character and macroscopical deformation quality of EPS silt light-weight soil will be synthetically approached, the reasonable estimation method of deformation parameters will be discussed, the related research results above will give a favorable theoretical sustentation for the application and expansion of this environmental protection technique.
