Nonlinear Analysis of Underground Walls in Interaction with Subgrade

Article Preview

Abstract:

Effects of interaction between the structure and the subgrade represent an important factor that has to be considered within the structural design. Foundation structures as the bearing parts enter the structure-subgrade interaction processes considerably and the calculations have to be performed in detail. The paper presents modeling of the contact between the sheeting wall and the surrounding soil. Characteristics of particular contact elements used in ANSYS software follow. 2D and 3D models of the wall-soil contact have been created using various input data. In the conclusion, the obtained results have been presented and compared.
