The coal enterprise ERP system is a management platform that built on the basis of information technology to provide management thinking for decision-making layer and operation methods for employees. Smooth implementation of ERP system can make it possible to distribute enterprise resources reasonably and fulfill the requirement of bringing maximum financial profits. In the paper, the problems that modern coal enterprises to implement ERP faced are analyzed, including, there exist misunderstanding and lack the knowledge of ERP to leadership, there lack of manpower and energy to enterprises after the implementation of ERP, and improper choice of partner and ERP software, etc. The article points out that leaders should seek unity of thinking, fully realize ERP is “top managerial project”, pay attention to the implementation, and dare to undertake the responsibilities. The enterprises must improve the qualities of the staff, especially the leader's qualities, carefully choose the software providers and the partners to ensure the smooth implementation of ERP systems.
