Fatigue Crack Growth in Titanium Alloy after Hardening and Ageing

Article Preview

Abstract:

In this paper the results of experimental tests of the fatigue cracks propagation in Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy subjected to cyclic bending are presented. The tests were performed on plane specimens with the stress concentrators in form of one-sided sharp notches. The tested specimens were made of the Ti-6Al-4V alloy subjected to oxygenating, and hardening and ageing. In the specimens after heat treatment, crack in the core has quite a different course than in the hardened oxygenated top layers.
