Review from Ringgold Inc., ProtoView:
Most of the papers consider research problems in the area of fatigue, and nearly a third of them explore fracture mechanics. Several describe new, sometimes futuristic techniques. The 43 selected papers include discussions of test stand and method for determining the usefulness of magneto-rheological composites in active suspension systems, estimating the size of damage to an aircraft structure using an embedded sensor network that generates elastic waves, applying a fictitious radius to fatigue life calculations of bending notched specimens, fatigue crack growth in titanium alloy after hardening and aging, and using the boundary element method to simulate crack growth in compressor blades subjected to vibration.
