Abstract: The influence of ultrasonic impact treatment on the corrosion resistance of 17G1S steel has been studied. It has been ascertained that the treated surface passivation effectiveness is determined by the optimal combination of ultrasonic treatment mode and choice of a corrosion inhibitor in the corrosion sites treatment. It is shown that ultrasonic impact treatment has a double action: increasing of corrosion resistance and hardening of steel.

Abstract: This article investigates the impact that the rake and rear faces of the drill made from high-speed steels of grade P6M5 and grinded by ultrasonic techniques imposes on the roughness of the holes being machined. The experiment showed that microgeometry of the tool sharpened by transmitting ultrasonic impulses into the zone of regrinding featured lower roughness; moreover, roughness parameters of the drilled holes were also improved.

Abstract: This article analyses the process of occurrence of the surface roughness during the ultrasonic hobbing of the fine pitch gears from the viewpoint of the theory of elastic-plastic contact, and suggests analytical solutions and regression equations to estimate the roughness parameter Ra in both conventional and ultrasonic machining.

Abstract: This paper discusses the technological method of residual stress relaxation of bearing rings by centerless running with cylindrical rolls. Described a new approach to relieve residual stresses by centerless running of elastically-deforming rolls on the basis of the geometrical setup of the equipment. It was found that geometrical setup of the equipment influences an elastic strain of parts and the degree of residual stress relaxation. We obtained a mathematical model for calculation of setup parameters to ensure the required variation value of elastic strain of the part. The results of experiments confirm the influence of the geometric setup on the magnitude of residual stress relaxation.

Abstract: In this paper, we research the relief of surfaces of wedge bodies of freewheeling mechanisms. The results obtained by scanning probe microscope let us correct predicted deterioration parameters of a wedge body and consider the effect of surfaces’ altitude quality indicators while designing mechanisms. Mark out relative area of bearing.

Abstract: It is pointed out that the increase of efficiency of machine-building industry and materials production by means of implementation of science-intensive informational-executive cyber-physical systems firstly must be realized in metalworking industry. The aspects of composition and mechanisms of function of cyber-physical systems and the directions of the increase of efficiency of production technologies in metalworking are investigated.

Abstract: The paper proves the possibility to control the surface microprofile with due regard to the optical characteristics of a rough surface; proposes an installation diagram for studying the optical characteristics of a rough surface; introduces an experimental procedure for evaluating the surface roughness via a contactless method; and substantiates a correlation relationship between the optical characteristics of the surface and the height parameters of the microprofile.

Abstract: A schematic structure of the adaptive control system is presented, the application of which will ensure the consistency of the quality of the surface layer of surfaces obtained by turning non-rigid parts. Refined mathematical models which describe patterns forming the radial component of the cutting forces and roughness of finish turning of steel 18NiCrMo5 are developed, thus forming the basis of a control algorithm of the presented adaptive control system.
