Introduction The use of reinforced materials in engineering applications has shown a rapid growth in the last few years.
To see the advantages in using composite materials, a comparison between their properties and those of more traditional materials should be done in terms of specific values (per unit of weight).
Fabrics and composite materials are the main component of bullet proof vests or the add-on plate of lightweight armors [1].

One of these materials, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) hydrogel is proposed to be used as artificial cartilage in joint replacement.
Many kinds of synthetic articular cartilage, such as methyl methacrylate, poly (2-hydroxyethyl) methacrylate (polyHEMA) hydrogel, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) hydrogel and so on, are used to replace the traditional joint materials.
Materials and methods Specimen preparation.
PVA hydrogel is a kind of viscoelastic and porous material.

Materials and Methods the raw material The experiment uses straw corn stalks and sorghum staw, which take from the Henan Agricultural University teaching experimental fields at north of Zhengzhou.
When choosing the corn stalks as raw materials, reducing sugar yield are 9.2%, 15.2%, 13.4%, 16.3% and 24.2%.
The size of materials are 40 mesh, 80 mesh, 120 mesh, 160 mesh and electron microscope, reducing sugar yield are 8.24%, 9.76%, 10.12%, 13.76%, 26.36%, that is, reducing sugar yield increases with the size of materials.
