Water resources in Beijing mainly include surface water and groundwater.
The water systems in the plain area can then be divided into 5 sub-systems.
Thus, the average values of data in 1995 were selected to establish a three-dimensional steady groundwater flow model, which is solved by MODFLOW in the groundwater professional software-Groundwater Modelling System (GMS).
Also, some emergency water source fields were constructed to meet the increase of water demand for urban supply, industrial supply and environmental use.
